Choosing the Best Decking Material for Your Home

August 7, 2023

Your deck is an extension of your living space, a place where you can enjoy the outdoors without ever leaving your home. When it comes to decking materials, choosing the right one is crucial for both appearance and durability. With so many options on the market, it can be overwhelming to decide which material to use. At S&S Design Build, we have helped countless homeowners find the perfect decking material to suit their unique needs.

Wood decking has always been a popular choice for its natural beauty and affordability. However, it requires regular maintenance and treatment to prevent rot and decay. Cedar and redwood are two popular types of wood decking that are known for their durability and attractive finish. These types of decking are also resistant to insects and rot, making them a great option for homeowners who want to enjoy the natural warmth of wood without the high maintenance that comes with it.

PVC decking is a newer option on the market that offers the look of wood without any of the maintenance. It is made from 100% plastic, making it resistant to mold, mildew, and stains. PVC decking is also slip-resistant, making it a great option for households with young children or seniors. While it is one of the most expensive options on the market, it is the most durable and long-lasting.

Aluminum decking is a newer option that offers durability and low maintenance. It is lightweight and resistant to fire, insects, and rot. Aluminum decking also comes in a variety of colors and finishes, making it a versatile option for any home. It is also easy to install, making it a popular choice for DIY enthusiasts.

At S&S Design Build, we prioritize understanding your needs and preferences to recommend the best decking material for your home. Whether you prioritize maintenance, durability, or aesthetic appeal, we have a variety of materials to meet your specific requirements.
