First let’s start with what is a screen room. A screen room, also known as a screened-in porch, is an outdoor living space that’s enclosed with screens & a roof. A screen room is a valuable addition to any home. However, to keep your screen room looking its best & extend its lifespan, regular cleaning & maintenance are crucial. In this post we’ll discuss the importance of keeping your screen room clean, recommend methods for cleaning, & provide helpful tips for avoiding damage to the screen material.

The importance of keeping your screen room clean is to allow for better air quality & promote improved airflow & ventilation. Screens that are well-maintained & maintenance regularly have a longer lifespan & don’t need replacing as often, saving you the homeowner money which is always a bonus.

Some tips for cleaning a screen room are:

  • Using a vacuum cleaner with an extendable attachment to remove dry dust, spider webs, & muddy particles.
  • Spray the screen with a cleaning solution before cleaning helps loosen dirt & grime.
  • Using a soft-bristled brush or rag & a cleaning solution to gently scrub the screens.
  • Rinse the screen thoroughly with a hose or bucket of water to remove any dirt & soap.

Avoid damaging the screen material following these tips:

  • When scrubbing the screen material, be gentle.
  • Avoid using abrasive materials such as steel wool or rough sponges.
  • Avoid spraying water directly onto the screen.
  • Avoid using harsh chemicals such as bleach or others that can damage the screen.
  • Avoid saturating the screen material with water.
  • Remember to clean the frame to keep it looking its best.

Here are some tips to follow to ensure the longevity of your screen room, in addition to regular maintenance:

  • Trim nearby trees & foliage to prevent debris from accumulating on the screen.
  • Inspect the screen regularly for tears or damage & repair them promptly.

By following these recommendations, you can keep your screen room looking its best for years to come. Happy Cleaning!
